The story of Flora, nestled in the picturesque enclave of Park Slope in Brooklyn, New York, is one that echoes the American Dream.

Founded by Emiliano and Rossella, two intrepid Italian immigrants hailing from the verdant wild hills of Lucania and the sparkling shores of the Tyrrhenian Sea, it stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of perseverance and passion.

Emiliano, a Parametric Designer with a keen eye for beauty and precision, and Rossella, a Sociologist with a deep appreciation for the cultural significance of food, first arrived in the Big Apple in 2012. Emiliano worked tirelessly at an architecture firm in Manhattan, while Rossella dedicated herself to teaching at a Catholic school.

Yet, despite their busy lives, they both yearned for a way to share the rich culinary heritage of their hometown of Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park with their new community. And so, after three long years of hard work and dedication, they decided to take the plunge and open their own restaurant.

Flora, named as an act of gratitude towards Emiliano’s Mother, who instilled in him a deep love and respect for all things about food conviviality and everything that it represents in Italian culture.
Today, Flora Restaurant is a beloved part of the Park Slope community, with locals and tourists alike flocking to taste the flavors of Cilento. Emiliano and Rossella continue to pour their hearts into every dish, using only the freshest ingredients and traditional cooking methods to ensure an authentic dining experience.
