’Karazishi’ is the Japanese name for the mythical imperial guardian lions that are found at temples in Japan – as well as in our humble ramen diner’s logo – and is primarily used to protect buildings from harmful spiritual influences. It is said these fearsome guardian lions know no fear except a tiny little bug that is said to hide in the fur of the lion, biting its way through the skin and eventually making its way to the lion’s bones. The only solution is for the lion to lie beneath the ‘Botan’ otherwise known as peony flowers at night, where it is said that dew drops from the peony petals will destroy this life-threatening bug. With the peony, the lion finds safety and rest, and Karazishi Botan team hopes that our unassuming ramen diner in similar vein will also provide a peaceful sanctuary where our guests can enjoy food in comfort with friends and family.
