During the Summer of 2021, news spread across the neighborhood that the beloved GC Stationery, the neighborhood art and stationery store, was going to close its doors. Francisco decided to visit the owner, Mr. Patel, who opened a window into his institution, GC Stationery. After spending much time together and several conversations later, Mr. Patel encouraged Francisco to take this opportunity to continue his legacy. An iconic and compelling business that had been a pillar in Jackson Heights for over half a century. With Mr. Patel’s guidance and mentorship, along with help and support from their loved ones, Francisco is enjoying the excitement and interest from the neighborhood. Art Retail Therapy continues to grow to be more than an art store; it’s also a meaningful art and community space that this neighborhood deserves.
